A soft, fast-absorbing cream for dry skin on body and face, with a short list of butters and oils.
Organic aloe juice, sunflower and olive oils, shea and cocoa butter, sodium PCA and organic plum and linden extracts, certified COSMOS Organic. It is lightly scented, and we name all five allergens on the label.
Organic aloe leaf juice as the base. Organic sunflower and olive oils, organic shea and cocoa butters. Glycerin and sodium PCA to help skin hold water. Organic plum fruit and linden flower extracts, jasmine extract and vitamin E.
Once or twice a day, after showering, on body and face. Massage in until absorbed. Wash your hands afterwards if you'll touch your eyes.

Butters and oils, chosen with care
Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) · Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) · Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower)
Shea and cocoa butter are rich plant fats that soften the skin and slow water loss from its surface. Sunflower seed oil, second on the list, is rich in linoleic acid, a fatty acid the skin barrier uses.
In a small forearm study, pure sunflower oil kept the skin barrier intact and improved hydration, while pure olive oil weakened it. This cream contains both. Sunflower is the larger oil, olive sits eighth, and both are blended into a cream rather than used neat.

Danby et al., 2013, Pediatric Dermatology. Adults applied the pure oils to their forearms twice a day for four weeks. It tested oils on their own. In our cream, sunflower oil is the second ingredient and olive oil the eighth.

Sunflower seed oil
In a small study of 19 adults across two groups, one group applied sunflower seed oil to one forearm and olive oil to the other, twice a day for four weeks.
Sunflower seed oil preserved the skin barrier and improved hydration. Olive oil weakened the barrier.

Shea butter and plant oils

Cocoa butter
A double-blind, randomised trial in pregnant women, using cocoa butter lotion or a placebo lotion daily.

Aloe vera
20 women used creams with 0.10–0.50% freeze-dried aloe on the forearm daily for two weeks.
Every aloe concentration raised the water content of the skin's outer layer.

Olive oil softens the skin. Used on its own, in one small study, it weakened the skin barrier, so we tell you it's there. In this cream it's eighth on the list, blended with sunflower oil, which that study found kept the barrier intact.
It contains no nuts from the EU's food allergen list. It does contain shea butter, which comes from the nut of the shea tree. If you avoid shea, skip it.
