We started Elurelia because we couldn't get a straight answer.
Not about anything complicated. Just: what's in this, how much of it, and does it actually do what the front of the bottle says?
01The question
It began the way it begins for most people: standing in front of a shelf, or scrolling a product page, trying to choose. Every bottle promised something. "Clinically proven." "Visible results." "Infused with botanicals." Very few of them would say which botanicals, at what strength, or what the clinical test actually measured.
So we started reading the backs of boxes instead of the fronts. Then the ingredient lists. Then the studies behind the ingredients. What we found wasn't a scandal. It was quieter than that: an industry where the useful information exists, but is rarely put in front of the person paying for it.
02What we found
Three things surprised us. First, most skincare brands don't make their own products. They work with specialist manufacturers, and there's nothing wrong with that; it's how the industry works. What's odd is how few of them say so.
Second, the words that sell best are often the ones that mean least. "Clean", "non-toxic" and "chemical-free" sound like safety, but they aren't defined anywhere. Meanwhile the words that actually help, like a percentage, a certification standard or a named allergen, are left in the small print.
Third, and most important: the honest answer to "will this work on my skin?" is usually we don't know until you've tried it. Very few brands are willing to say that out loud.
The information exists. It just isn't usually put in front of the person paying for it. That's the whole idea behind Elurelia.
03The decision
We could have spent years and a fortune building a factory. Instead we asked a different question: where does a skincare brand actually add value for the customer? Not in owning machinery. In choosing well, labelling honestly, and refusing to claim what it can't support.
So we partnered with an established manufacturer in Riga, Latvia, with its own ISO 22716-certified facility and formulas certified COSMOS Natural or COSMOS Organic by ECOCERT. That let us put our effort where it matters to you: deciding which products are worth selling, and telling you everything about them.
04The rules we set ourselves
Before we sold a single product, we wrote down what we would and wouldn't do. They're still the rules we check every decision against.
05Where we are now
We're a small, independent company, trading as Elurelia through Band of Brothers LLC, and selling across the EU from our partner's warehouse in Latvia. We're not the biggest range and we're not the cheapest. We'd like to be the one you trust to tell you the truth.
We haven't got everything right. Delivery takes longer than we'd like, and we don't yet hold the full panel details behind every testing figure we publish. We say so on How we make things, and we'll update it when that changes.
06What comes next
More of the same, done better: more studies summarised plainly in the Journal, more complete testing data on the products we already sell, and a shorter wait between your order and your door. And, whenever it's the right answer, the occasional article telling you that you don't need to buy anything at all.
