How we make things
People ask who makes our products and how much of it we do ourselves. Here's the honest version, including the parts most brands leave out.

Where our products are made
Our formulas are produced in Riga, Latvia, in the European Union, in our manufacturing partner's own facility, certified to ISO 22716, the international standard for good manufacturing practice in cosmetics. That covers the things you'd hope are covered:

We don't own a factory, and we don't pretend to. Almost no independent skincare brand does, including many that imply otherwise.

Four checks, in this order. A formula that fails any of them doesn't make it to the shop.

Check
We read the INCI first, not the marketing.
The ingredient list tells us what's really in it and roughly in what order. If the interesting ingredient sits below the preservative, it's decoration, and we pass.

Check
We count the allergens.
Every declared fragrance allergen gets named on the product page. A high count isn't automatically bad, but you deserve to know before you buy.

Check
We check the claims against the evidence.
If we can't find published research for an ingredient at a sensible concentration, we don't build a product page around it.

Check
We check what it costs you per use,
not per bottle, and drop anything that doesn't earn its price against what's already on the shelf.
What's certified, and what that means
COSMOS Natural
Audited by ECOCERT. All ingredients are of natural origin, apart from a short approved list (including some preservatives) allowed in small amounts.
COSMOS Organic
Everything in COSMOS Natural, plus at least 20% of the whole product from organic farming (10% for rinse-off products), and at least 95% of the plant ingredients organic.
These are audited standards, not logos a brand can award itself. Most of our range is COSMOS Natural; some products are COSMOS Organic; a few carry no certification. Where a formula qualifies, each product page shows which certification applies and gives the exact percentages: natural-origin content, and content from organic farming.
A word on language
We don't describe products as "clean", "chemical-free" or "non-toxic". Everything is chemicals, including water, and those words are marketing rather than information. Where we make an environmental point, we'll say exactly what it refers to or we won't make it.
What gets tested
Safety assessment
Legal requirement
Every cosmetic sold in the EU must have a safety report prepared by a qualified assessor and be registered on the EU's product portal (CPNP) before it goes on sale, with a product information file kept on record. This is a legal requirement, not a feature, and our products meet it.
Stability and preservation
Every formula
Formulas are tested so they stay safe and stable for the period-after-opening shown on the pack.
Consumer-perception testing
Some formulas
Some formulas have been tested with panels of users who rate their own skin. Where we show those figures, we say plainly what kind of testing produced them and what they don't prove: how people feel about their skin isn't the same as an instrument measuring wrinkle depth.
Not tested on animals
EU law, every brand
Worth stating once for clarity: animal testing for cosmetics is banned across the EU, for every brand. Anyone selling it to you as their own ethical achievement is selling you the law.
Batches and traceability
Every pack carries a batch code. If you ever need to ask about a specific bottle (a change in colour or smell, a reaction, anything), send us that code and we can trace exactly when and where it was made.
The pack also names the EU Responsible Person, the entity legally accountable for the product's safety within the European Union.

We don't hold the full panel details behind every testing figure yet, and we've asked for them.
